I couldn’t help myself, the first cherries of the season were at the store the other day. I got way too many so I ended up stewing them and serving them on shortcakes–but more on that later. Excited as I was, I snapped some photos of the cherries on their own, in all their shiny red glory.
Did you know that (according to one of Bill Bryson’s books) grocers used to quickly suck on cherries to give the old ones a bit of shine? No spit here–these were just that lovely naturally!
