Path: WPC

I took this photo standing in the center of Columbus Circle looking East across Central Park South. I have a series of these photos, fiddling with shutter speed. This was one of my favorites until I noticed the shadows of people who had crossed the street during my shot. I figured I liked the shot enough to keep it, even in spite of the “ghosts” of the pedestrians and my assumption that I’d never use it.

As I looked for a photo that said “path” for this week’s photo challenge (I’m currently on holiday away from my camera so no new photos for this challenge), I couldn’t find anything that I hadn’t already used. I’ve got some picture perfect paths from my Letchworth photo shoot and one pretty path under a trellis from Genesee Country Museum, but those are already on my blog. I know there isn’t a rule that says I can’t reuse them for the photo challenge, but I don’t want to. I was at a bit of a loss when I noticed my traffic photos.

Roadway… path… almost… I kept looking.

That’s when this jumped out at me. The vague impressions of three people in the crosswalk, marring my photo. Their unique paths crossed mine that night and, however fleetingly, they left their mark.
